RCMSPL Update - September 20, 2021
Submitted By Jon Hebden on Monday, September 20, 2021

On behalf of the Executive, I want to congratulate all the regular season winners on a successful season.  Division I and II will be decided tonight with the conclusion of the last regular season games.

Last Wednesday night wasn’t the best night at the diamonds, we had a conflict with another league on GG6 and the lights on GG4 and GG6 went out and wouldn’t go back on.  The city has since fixed the lights and they should all be operational for the rest of the year.  As a result, on Thursday we had to update the schedule and move some games around.  I emailed the affected teams so everyone should be aware of the changes that were made.

Just a reminder of the Tie Breaking Formula to determine the Regular Season Final Standings, as stated in Section 5.3 of the Playing Rules:

Tie Breaking Formula:

  1. If the teams are tied at the end of the regular season, the games played between the two teams will first be considered. If still tied, the net run differential for the regular playing season will be used. If still tied, total runs scored will be used. If still tied, the tie will be broken by a coin toss.

Regarding playoffs, we are expecting some rain this week.  If this happens, we will reschedule the games as we have vacant diamonds on Sept 27th, 29th, Oct 4th and 6th but ALL TEAMS need to be prepared to play on Monday and Wednesday of each week.  We will update the schedule by the next day if there are any playoff games to reschedule.

Just a reminder on playoff eligibility.  Players must be on your roster and have played in at minimum 1/4 (rounded up) of your regular season games to be eligible to play in the playoffs.  Player status can be protested by the other team and if an illegal player is discovered; the offending team will lose that game.
